Afterschool Program Coordinator
The role of Afterschool Program Coordinator is to provide an inclusive after-school environment for Claremont Middle School
students that is safe, nurturing and values and embraces diversity. The program
will provide active, meaningful, and engaging activities to improve and better
engage youth to achieve, connect and thrive.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND TIME ON TASK EXPECTATIONS
Program facilitation
- Create a safe and supportive climate that supports
the developmental, emotional, physical health and mental wellbeing of all
students
- Set clear expectations and guidelines for students
and staff so that the program runs safely and effectively
- Coordinate after-school offerings with school staff
and outside agencies.
- Be trained in the GET REAL Middle School curriculum
and teach cohorts during the year
- Complete any trainings necessary to facilitate and
maintain programming
- Create informational flyers, and attend school
functions to actively promote program
- Manage student sign-ups for programs
- Organize school approved volunteers and mentors
- Maintain a secure database of participating
students
- Maintain safe and secure sign-in and sign-out process
and personal check-ins with youth
- Communicate with parents on a regular basis to ensure
student safety and participation
- Always supervise students when they are in your
care.
- Coordinate healthy snacks that are youth
friendly.
- Maintain a clean and safe environment that meets the
basic needs of students
- Provide weekly updates to youth program
coordinator
Program Development
- Develop and maintain relationship with Claremont
Middle School Staff and support staff to encourage their participation in
programming
- Encourage teachers to submit proposals
- Survey students and parents to give them ongoing
opportunity for feedback on the program
- Develop engaging and empowering programs and
activities for students
Data Collection
- Keep accurate attendance records for classes/clubs
- Provide input to program director for required
reports
- Maintain student information spreadsheet for
data collection and distributed incentives
Training and Supervision
- Participate in required agency and contract
trainings
- Participate in supervision and team meetings
- Complete self-evaluations for performance
reviews
- Be trained in the GET REAL Middle School
curriculum
- Complete any trainings necessary to facilitate
and maintain programming
REQUIREMENTS
- Bachelor's degree or higher in education or related
field, or 4+ years of related experience
- Prior experience working with families and
youth
- Effective and objective verbal and written
communication skills
- Able to pass a background check and clear driving
record
- Willing to learn new evidence-based curriculums
- Proof of Covid vaccine
